Ready or not, summer is ending and a new school year is about to begin. Many dance studios, programs, and colleges will be making the transition from a reduced summer schedule to a new and busy season of classes. I know that many teachers use these days of summer to re-assess, regroup, refresh and prepare for the coming year. I’m sure that many of you have thoughts, advice, and reminders for your students that would also benefit our student readers here as they, too, prepare for the season ahead. Therefore, I have decided to host the first-ever Back to School Teach-a-thon August 19 – 23. Here’s how to participate:
If you are a dancer (students can participate too) or dance teacher and author posts on your own blog:
- RSVP in the comments field for this post saying that you would like to participate – make sure you include the link to your website.
- Link to this page before August 19.
- Publish your post and contact me with the link. (Note: Fresh content is best but, it is okay if you’d like to contribute an older post. Just be sure to send me the link)
- Link to Dance Advantage during the week of the Teach-a-thon (August 19 – 23)
On each day of the Teach-a-thon I will post links of published articles, as well as a final re-cap on August 23.
Just remember everyone, this Teach-a-thon is directed toward students as they head back to class. So, please avoid presenting your thoughts to other teachers, studio owners, parents, etc. You may get a chance to speak to these groups in future thons. Other than that, there are no rules to adhere to – this is your opportunity to speak your mind! **Still have questions?? I’ve addressed some here.** Below are some images I’ve created to help spread the word about this event. Re-size them as you like, but please do not otherwise alter the images.
