Please post only relevant comments.
I of course appreciate the “great article” feedback. It is always good practice however to say what in particular you liked or what resonated most with you.
Outside of the above, I delete any comment that does not relate to or respond to the article topic.
Hyperlinks are currently allowed but please do not make me change this policy.
It hurts your own credibility if you post links that are not on-topic. If we have a relationship and your links are relevant I allow them to stay. I do check the links and if I find they are not a good match, I usually delete them. When you create your own blog, you too can determine what stays or goes!
Please do not post comments that contain inappropriate, unnecessarily degrading, or inflammatory language.
As some of my readers are young people, I ask all those commenting to conduct themselves in a suitable manner. I will not cater to those who cannot play nice!
Add value to the content here, do not detract from it.
In other words, I delete comment SPAM.
These include those detected by my spam filtering system and those that I must manually remove because they do not add to the conversation and serve only the commenter by creating a link from my site to their own.
If you represent or are affiliated with a business, company, organization, blog (etc.)…
It is always better to be transparent in the fact that you are affiliated. Most readers are pretty savvy and will guess that you are being surreptitious in recommending something with which you are associated. Being up front about your affiliation will always be a better reflection on your company. It’s as easy as saying, “I’m a _____ for _______ and we sell a product that I think is relevant….”
As long as it really is relevant, readers will appreciate that you’ve shared rather than discount what you’ve said as the spam they’ve come to expect online.
From my point of view, I offer lots of ways to promote companies and share interesting dance-related products. All a company has to do is ask. I am always looking to find ways to partner. Some methods are paid, some require sharing a product through a review or giveaway – there’s something for every budget (including no budget at all).
I work very hard to create useful and engaging content at Dance Advantage, I do not think it is too much to ask that companies that have something to gain from a link on this space go through me to reach the audience I have built. Read more about these methods here.
