Nichelle… in a nutshell
My name is Nichelle – pronounced just like Michelle with an N.
- I live in Houston, Texas. I hail from Pennsylvania. I only miss the snow on Christmas.
- I have been dancing since childhood, developing a deep passion for expressing thoughts and ideas through movement, crafting dances, and passing on my knowledge and love for the art of dance.
- I have one brother who is an actor/bartender living in Los Angeles.
- I am happily married (and have been for over a decade) and I have one son born in ’07.
- I’m “still looking for the face I had before the world was made…”
- I perform in contemporary dance ensembles and projects in Houston.
- Since my son’s birth I have essentially been a stay/work-at-home mom.
- I write about dance… a lot.
- I love to read fiction and am in a book club.
- I hold a bachelor’s degree in dance from Slippery Rock University (or Slimy Pebble as it’s fondly known).
- My family is musically inclined. My mom’s a trained singer and everyone else just loves to sing and play instruments. My brother and I were both drum majors in high school (I was also in the color guard).
- I love theatre and I have choreographed many musicals. My husband and I met doing community theatre. My favorite roles so far are Chava (Fiddler), Jacqueline (Murder on the Nile), and Nikki (Sweet Charity).
- I married a musical-loving, gadget-tinkering, sports-evading… meteorologist.
- I love movies and film.
- I love U2.
- My favorite color is green.
- I’m a Libra, in case you’re wondering.
