Our next giveaway is from DanceStudioOwner.com.

Keep your passion for dance alive as you grow your business...guaranteed!
You may already know that I am a member and affiliate of DanceStudioOwner.com, though I am not a studio owner myself. DSO co-founder, Suzanne Gerety and I found each other on Twitter two-and-a-half years ago and I immediately got excited about the resource she and her mom, Kathy Blake, were (at the time) just beginning.
I continue to be excited about DanceStudioOwner.com as a resource to help you start, grow or take your dance studio business to the next level. Suzanne and Kathy consistently lay open the processes they’ve used to grow and sustain their dance studio business over the last 25 years. That’s why I’m an affiliate and why I am thrilled every month to present Suzanne’s insights on Dance Advantage.
The story of how DanceStudioOwner.com was born can be found at the website, but here’s what Suzanne has to say about why the site and service exists: “We created this resource for dance studio owners so that you wouldn’t make costly mistakes or lose more time and energy on the areas of business that drain you and burn you out.”
Here’s what you can win:
Suzanne and Kathy want to give away a One-Year Membership to DanceStudioOwner.com (valued at $187) to ONE lucky Dance Advantage reader.

Leave a comment at this post, answering the following question: What is the biggest problem you want to solve at your dance studio?
This giveaway is open worldwide and lasts until Saturday, November 13.
I hope you win!

My biggest problem, is finding a balance between my personal life and studio life. The old saying “when one side is doing really well the other is usually lacking”
I’m already a member of DSO – and am loving it!
My biggest problem right now: prioritizing big goals
I have been in business for over 10 years and I am trying to decide whether to look into purchasing a building, upgrade my current lease or build my own studio. Except, I’m not a millionaire so I will need a loan and I have no idea where to start (with the legal and real estate stuff). A guide to tackling big goals or a checklist of some sort for purchasing a building or maybe suggestions for what every studio needs (floors, mirrors, etc), would be helpful.
The biggest problem I want to solve at my studio is recruiting new students! For granted, I JUST launched my dance program in September, but I feel like I’m not growing quickly enough. I promote heavily on Facebook, Twitter, and also keep my website updated, and we get tons of phone calls, but I want more students enrolling.
my biggest problem? Marketing! getting my name out there and known within the community.
thanks for the opportunities–i love freebies!
A DSO membership is a super valuable thing. You need to be a member if you’re not already.
The hardest thing is definitely managing the work/life balance. It seems like no matter how hard I try, I am ALWAYS thinking about the studio and working to finish “just 1 more thing”!
What is the biggest problem you want to solve at your dance studio?..I am a new studio just getting started. I am currently trying to get a space of my own and am only teaching out of a recreation center. I feel my biggest challenge is going to be getting enough students in the beginning seeing I have not created a buzz yet. I could use help with marketing ideas and the every day tasks. The other concern I have is I will be opening my location in January seeing everything goes as planned and will not have enough students or time to do a 1st yr recital. So I could use help with this aspect as well. Having a membership to Dancestudioowner.com would not only give me great advise but would give me access to the many owners out there that started in the same place as me. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be a member. Happy Holidays!
My studio is primarily focused on adult learners. While it’s inspiring to hear stories about women who’ve learned and grown under our direction, it’s often hard to get the enrollment up with older learners, despite the marketing and the online medias. Is it an issue of “spend more get more” in advertising, or is it an issue of spreading the word through a wider variety of medias. Is there a trend that is proving to be more successful?
As many others the biggest problem I would love to solve is how to market my studio better to get more students coming in. A dancer my whole life, owning my own studio was a dream come true. Making it successful would be the icing on the cake. I think DanceStudioOwner.com could really help me achieve the success my studio has the potential to become.
I’m not personally a studio owner, but it is something I have aspired to do in life, and any tips/hints in getting started would be wonderful!
Having danced with a number of studios, the one issue I have seen is discipline. The last studio I was with was so relaxed, we often spent the first half of class just chatting! I felt cheated as a dancer (I am a young adult dancer who takes classes for enjoyment and continual learning) and when I brought up the issue with the studio owner so she could be aware, I was basically blacklisted from the studio and I’ve been left to find another place to dance (which is tough when you’re 28!).
Freebies can’t get enough of them!!!!!! Dance Studio Owner website is a must for any dance teacher or studio owner. There are so many valuable student forms, teaching techniques, studio information and links to other dance related suppliers. Dance Studio Owner and Dance Advantage what a partnership. I just wish I had all this info at my fingertips when I started my studio 18 years ago. The biggest problem with my dance studio that I would like to solve is to reach the students on a deeper level of dance. I want them to understand the passion and hard work that seems to be missing in todays youth. Secondly how to deal with parents, what are some key words or phrases to use when dealing with parents everything from tuition to advancement? Thirdly what are some key words to use on a prospective student or parent of student?
Biggest problem in our community is getting folks to understand that the arts are no less important than math and science!
I love freebies! I’m a member of DSO and have the coloring pages cd. I use the coloring pages every week, even older girls ask for them! My biggest problem like others is trying to get enough students in a crowded market with a poor economy. Marketing takes money, and a lot of it in my community as our ads are very expensive. I already do all the free stuff (told you I love freebies).
The problem I have is recruiting more students and advertising to promote my studio which is a mobile dance studio which I would love to have a permanent location.
Communication with parents!! Thanks!
The biggest problem I have run into is the expense of health insurance for myself, and my employee. Thanks for the opportunity to win a dance studio owner membership!
This is a great Freebie! My biggest problem is finding the right marketing for my area that will work for my studio. I usually spend more than I get in return but i also can’t stop marketing. So I guess I need new ideas.
Thanks for this blog!
My biggest challenge is figuring out how to motivate the preteens/teens to work harder. I’m their ballet teacher but I’d venture to say their other teachers would like a bigger work ethic as well. But particularly for ballet, it’s hard to get them to understand that the reward comes at the price of concentrating and practicing for an extended period of time. Ballet needs a certain amount of patience! The more you put in the more you get out! There’s no magic wand to wave…time and effort are needed. Is it the fog of hormones that’s blocking the message?
I feel the biggest problem is not only finding new students, but students who really want to step beyond the usual the dance class and learn dance as a lifetime art form.
My Biggest problem is getting the word out that the studio exists in a low/no cost manner. While word-of-mouth is working and spreading, it’s super slow! Great marketing tips and tricks are always useful!
I’m just starting fresh in a new location, so I’m using the dance space at a daycare center. My biggest problem is bookkeeping! I don’t make enough yet to hire someone, but that’s the first employee I’m going to have!
Motivation. Some of the kids are there because their parents want them to get exercise. My goal is to try to make it so fun that they WANT to be there and participate instead of being made to be there.
I want to start a dance studio, so this would be helpful!
Bookkeeping, and fundraising!! It seems like there’s so much to organize!!
Thank you again for all the freebies, I love freebies!!
Biggest problem — getting the word out about the Studio’s great training. Love your freebies!
I’m in an area where ballet is very uncommon. Ways to get enrollment up, especially for boys is a big challenge. After that, it is about maintaining student enrollment. I am not big on recitals, as I tend to focus more on technique and long-term improvements… so I do not offer much by the way of instant gratification.
Setting sensible costs so I don’t scare people away with high prices, bit also can still turn a profit!
the biggest problem i want to solve is how to keep motivated/focused so the high priority things don’t overwhelm the smaller responsibilities.
