I thoroughly agree - even on a small scale. When I began belly dance many years back, it was upon seeing other dancers performing that I realized that I would love to do that too!

FAst forward 15 years later, or so, to me organizing one of the larger community belly dance shows here in Ottawa with over 100 student and professional dancers sharing their love of our particular flavor of dance.

And colleagues of mine also organize other shows throughout the year - fundraisers, community minded, but all amazing opportunities to see fabulous dancers to inspire and encourage us!

We really have to look at why we dance - it cannot just be to feed our own egos, making us isolationist and only letting students see our little world. We need to be looking beyond our little headspace and realizing that dance is so much more positive when we share - both giving and receiving!

Okay - My show is tomorrow night, so I have to get back to planning!
